How can I participate?
When we first began creating websites, our vision was to create a site where collectors could buy and sell art on the secondary market. We didn't like the idea of collectors having to pay high up front fees with no guarantee of success. And, the poor quality of presentation, and lack of photos that many of the existing secondary art market sites offered deterred serious collectors from buying. The answer - TheArtExchange.net.

Because of our initial vision, you can just as easily list one, or many pieces of art. This ease of use has made our sites favorites for collectors, artists, galleries, and dealers in both the primary and secondary art markets.

Our reach now far exceeds our initial expectations, and we often assist in facilitating both sales and trades. In addition to being able to buy items yourself, you’ll also find great deals on art from the primary art market in our parent site, ArtAreas.com, without the traditional costs of commissions and overhead. You’ll find that our art network offers you the ultimate catalog of unique and one of a kind items from around the world.

Listing Art for Sale
To list your art for sale, simply click "List Art for Sale" on the theartexchange.net main page, or click "Add Object" on the ArtAreas.com main page. If your images meet our specifications, your listing will be displayed online immediately. If it does not appear there, it will typically drop into a special folder for our staff to process. Listings by collectors are displayed in both ArtAreas.com and in d'art exchange.com (as well as any additional sites relative to that specific type of work, i.e. TribalArtsDirectory.com, AbstractAreas.com, etc.)

The Seller's Fee for pieces being sold by collectors is lower than the fee for original artwork. At only 30% for pieces listed online and 20% for obejcts valued at more than $25,000. Fees are negotiable for works valued at larger dollar amounts, please contact us for details...

New pieces are reviewed regularly. Once a week they’re sorted and categorized. Some general categories allow anyone to participate. Most are more specific. When we determine an appropriate category for your piece, it will also automatically show up in any related websites that we run. For example, tribal artifacts are displayed in TribalArtsDirectory.com, abstract art will show up in AbstRacTareas.com, and art sold by collectors will appear in d'artexchange.com.

We believe that simplicity is the key to making any good thing work, and while our form is not as complex as the forms on other websites, you can do your part to keep it that way by entering the most complete description possible. Please be sure to list:
· the medium
· size
· whether the piece is framed or not
· artist information
· descriptive information on the piece itself
· year, edition number, etc.
· certificate of authenticity
· recent appraisals

Also, be certain to fill out the keywords list completely, we create meta-tags (these help search engines find you) for every page based on this field, and use it to assist us in categorizing your listings. Filling out the form as completely as possible will improve your listing's search engine results. We actively work to ensure that listings in our site appear in many search engine results. Additionally, you may add our Internet Promotion service to your listing, and we will purchase sponsored links in over 70% of major search engines to guarantee that people searching for works by an artist will find your listing.

NOTE - Be sure to always enter the same email address with all of your listings, when you login to update your listings, you will be given a list of all items listed for a particular email address...

Buying through ArtAreas.com
When we receive an inquiry about a piece, we act as a liaison between the buyer and the seller. We relay offers and questions to the seller, and allow the buyer to pay using various methods including credit cards. In this way the seller can be assured that the funds for the transaction have been set aside, and the buyer is more comfortable ordering online.

Before the seller receives the funds, the buyer will first have the opportunity to receive and review the work, and approve of the transaction. When an order occurs, we act as an escrow, holding the money until the transaction is complete and all parties are satisfied. Then a check for the sale price (less our seller's fee), and S&H will be forwarded to the seller. Our system provides secure servers with SSL encryption, enabling buyers to make inquiries and purchases with confidence.

While ArtAreas.com contains artwork for sale from galleries, dealers, artists, and collectors, TheArtExchange.net is designed to be a market just for collectors to buy and sell. Our main site, ArtAreas.com, contains all of the listings from each of our sites.
